Editorial Standards & Policy
Pet health is a topic people trust us with, so we hold our content to a high standard. This page explains how PetVitale creates, sources, and reviews the guides you read on our blog.
Who writes our content
Our articles are researched and written by the PetVitale editorial team, working from published veterinary sources. Our goal is to help you make informed decisions and to prepare well for conversations with your veterinarian.
Not individually vet-reviewed. We want to be straightforward about this: our articles are not currently reviewed article-by-article by a licensed veterinarian before publication. We are working towards named veterinary review, and when an article has been reviewed we will say so on that article, with the reviewer's name, credentials and the date. Until you see that byline, treat our guidance as well-researched general information rather than a professional opinion about your animal.
How we research and source
We ground our guidance in reputable, publicly available sources, including veterinary organizations such as the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), and the ASPCA. Where relevant, we link to these sources so you can read further.
We do not fabricate statistics, studies, or outcomes. When we describe typical ranges (such as cost estimates), we present them as general estimates that vary by region and provider, not as guarantees.
Accuracy and review
Every article is reviewed for accuracy and clarity before publication and updated as needed. Each post shows a "Last reviewed" date so you know how current it is.
When an article has been reviewed by a named subject-matter expert, such as a licensed veterinarian, we display that reviewer's name on the article. If no such reviewer is named, the content reflects our editorial team's research and has not been individually reviewed by a veterinarian. We never imply a professional review that did not take place.
Medical disclaimer
PetVitale content is provided for general educational purposes only. It is not a substitute for professional veterinary advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always seek the advice of a licensed veterinarian with any questions about your pet's health, and never disregard or delay professional care because of something you read here.
If your pet is showing urgent symptoms, such as difficulty breathing, repeated vomiting, collapse, suspected poisoning, or signs of severe pain, contact a veterinarian or emergency clinic immediately.
Responsible use of AI
PetVitale uses AI to help owners organize records, set reminders, and prepare for vet visits. Our tools are designed to support, never replace, professional veterinary care, and they route serious or urgent signs to a veterinarian. We are transparent about what our AI can and cannot do.
Corrections
If you believe an article contains an error, we want to know. Email support@petvitale.com and we will review and correct it promptly, updating the "Last reviewed" date accordingly.
Independence and privacy
Our guidance is written to help pet owners, not to push unrelated products. We treat your pet's health data with care: it is encrypted, controlled by you, and never sold. Read more about how we protect your data on our security page.
